THE COMPANY is the logistic arm of THE COMPANY Group and provides freight forwarding and logistics solutions. THE COMPANY is working with a large network of partners (carriers, inland operators, etc.) to develop customized solutions for its customers.
THE COMPANY has offices in a lof of countries and partners all over the world. THE COMPANY can thus guarantee the full control of the supply chain. THE COMPANY has really ambitious growth target and plan to develop its network by opening offices in key markets in the coming years.
We are currently developing THE COMPANY entity in the area and we are recruiting a Manager Marine Logistics  to develop our revenue and gross margin.
Mission
As part of THE COMPANY sales team, you will be responsible for coordination and developing all movements & logistics involving marine vessels and associated activities.
Target is to develop long term relationships to create a sustainable, profitable, consistent and recurrent business. The successful candidate will ensure that THE COMPANY meet its business objectives by increasing revenue and gross margin.
Position
Within THE COMPANY, you prospect, you enhance customer loyalty and you develop your customers’ portfolio, according to the policy and the commercial objectives defined by our Direction. You will report directly to THE COMPANY Logistics General Manager Benelux and in second line to the airfreight business development manager in our Headquarters.
Key Responsibilities


Functie-eisen

  • Significant marine logistics experience with Offshore Operators and/or Offshore Construction Contractors, from various sides of the maritime industry and shipping agency business with strong knowledge in ship management from chartering, safety, preparing
  • the office and the vessels for ISM and ISO codes including manuals and documentation preparation as well as conducting internal and on-board audits, chartering, logistics planning, staff management and Maritime inspection experience.
  • Coordinate with various parties for material & personnel movement that are required to be on site on required dates, to meet the project schedules.
  • Able to coordinate all marine & HSE inspection as per client requirements and facilitate the inspections, close out & approval of the vessels for Offshore operations.
  • Capable to independently expand the marine logistics and make it profitable/increase profitability.
  • Possess continuous drive to (further) develop sales activities.
  • Highly motivated by challenges, your negotiation skills and your ability to close deals will be essential in achieving your goals.
  • You have knowledge of tender process and management.
  • You have a good understanding of transportation industry and in particular, international airfreight shipping specifics and related cost and revenue drivers
  • Your autonomy, rigor, responsiveness and proactivity will enable you to be successful.
  • You have strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Postgraduate degree in International Trade or Transport/Logistics or Air Transportation
  • Proven track record of sales in a similar role in Marine logistics
  • Minimum of 10 year experience in Airfreight Industry
  • Excellent skills in English and Dutch, both speaking and writing.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (B)
  • Ensure enough commercial visits have been done to generate business (5 to 10 per week)

Taakomschrijving

- As Manager Marine Logistics  you will structure and organize our Marine Logistics Product in line with our Directions, in such a way that it will be profitable, and operational structured to ensure and secure a good, reliable and value added product for our network and local office.
- As Manager Marine Logistics  your main task will be to Promote, Develop and Coordinate all movements & logistics involving marine vessels and associated activities. Your primary responsibility is to realize sales targets and execute the sales strategy as it’s been laid out.
- You will maintain existing customer relations as well as expand our customer base with new ones, whilst keeping your customer portfolio up-to-date at all times by administrating date in the available CRM-system.
- You will visit existing and potential customers to understand their needs and built with the operational team a customized solution that perfectly fit with customers’ requirements.
- You will secure customer generated revenues and serve as the main entry point for airfreight both internally and externally. Your sales activities will be divided between
outside sales (i.e. customer visits) and inside sales (i.e. acquisition by phone – both warm & cold).
- You advise your customer and propose custom-made services according to their requirements. You participate in the elaboration of the sales offer and discuss with the customer the terms and conditions of the contract. For that purpose, you negotiate the prices according to the pricing policy of our group. You ensure the follow-up of the sale until the payment and you may need to take part in the commercial management and settlement of claims and litigations. You participate in the definition of business strategy and corporate marketing. As a true ambassador of the company with customers, you follow and analyze the economic and social changes of your perimeter and raise the relevant information to your hierarchy.
- You actively participate in sharing best practices with the rest of the sales team.
- You define and implement your own Commercial Action Plan with your general manager.
- You closely work with the customer service team and the head office air freight product manager to develop marine logistics solutions
- You negotiate with suppliers the best conditions adapted to customers.
- You monitor the progress of the shipment until final destination.
- You participate to the contract setting and monitor customers’ payment with the Collection Desk.
- You may participate in the management of commercial disputes.
- Besides, you may have to ensure a competitive intelligence and occasionally carry out marketing studies.
- You report your commercial pipeline to both local THE COMPANY and agency Management and THE COMPANY Head Office.
- You work with other THE COMPANY branches to share sales leads (potential business of your customers related to other branches area)
- You will manage, motivate and activate an enthusiastic Airfreight team, possibly located in both Rotterdam and / or Amsterdam area.
- In addition, as member of our sales force, you ensure the recognize, mention and communicate possible other logistic services, such as our sea freight, multimodal transport and storing solutions towards your customers’ portfolio, and share this with the Sales team in order to promote and follow up.
